I’m saddened to say that 5 people are dead and about 40 others injured after the collapse of a stage at a concert for the band Sugarland on Saturday night. It is said that high winds caused the stage to collapse at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Opening act Sara Bareilles performed her set, luckily before tragedy struck. Both her and Sugarland expressed their condolences, with Sugarland tweeting,
“We are all right, we are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you’ll join us. They need your strength.”
The National Weather Service measured the gust that lifted the stage and sent it crashing down in the 60 to 70 mph range, according to officials.
You can watch the video below of the stage going down and fans frantically running for safety.
